A defense expert made the bombshell claim that he and his team on a top-secret mission on board a US Navy submarine had a close brush with a UFO traveling faster than the underwater speed of sound.

Bob McGwier, a defense expert and professor at Virginia Tech, claimed he was working with other experts on a classified underwater project on the US Navy’s USS Hampton Submarine in the 1990s when the bizarre encounter occurred.

While cruising underwater in the submarine, a mysterious object buzzed them (see video below). The Unidentified Submerged Object (USO) traveled multiple times faster than the underwater speed of sound.

He did not talk about the incident publicly because the military authorities forbade him.

USO faster than underwater speed of sound

McGwier and his team were astounded when their submarine’s onboard sonar picked up an approaching USO traveling faster than the underwater speed of sound.

Water is a dense medium compared with air. Thus, engineers face challenges designing high-speed underwater crafts.

Humans are not yet capable of designing and building underwater crafts that can travel near the underwater speed of sound.

[Note: Sound travels underwater approximately 4.3 times faster than in air.]

As the USO passed them, the technician in charge of the sonar system confirmed that a mysterious object just zipped past at supersonic speed.

The encounter lasted only a few seconds. Besides evidence on the sonar, the team inside the submarine heard only the sound of something zipping past them at incredible speed.

McGwier said they hushed up the incident because their mission was highly classified.

But he recently shared his experience on a UFO podcast (see video above). However, he did not share any details about their underwater mission.

UFO researchers believe aliens have underwater bases

The bombshell disclosure by McGwier comes after Paranormal Papers reported that a former US Navy Admiral claimed that exploration of the seafloor off the coast of California could reveal a massive underwater UFO base.

According to retired Navy Rear Admiral Tim Gallaudet, recent UFO sightings in the area suggested an underwater UFO facility.

The British singer and former Happy Mondays star Shaun Ryder also claimed that technologically advanced extraterrestrial civilizations were more likely to establish their bases in the remotest parts of the earth, such as inside mountains and the seafloor.

He believed that the aliens put humans here for experimental purposes and are watching us to see how we fare.
